Daycare Center

From the very beginning, when Ukrainian families arrive in Valmez, school-age children are integrated into the Czech state kindergarten or elementary school in Valmez. However, for children between the ages of one and four, there is no guaranteed slot in the local daycare centre that offers full-time care on weekdays and during school holidays. Such a daycare centre is important for parents, mainly for mothers, so they can work full-time during the day.

Valmez4Shelter opened a daycare centre in the "Domecek" community centre in June 2022. The association pays for the facilities and covers the wages of the two teachers. In 2023, the city agreed to convert the former caretaker's flat in the Masaryk school building into a daycare centre that meets all official standards. The refurbishment was only possible because Valmez4Shelter paid for a third of the refurbishment costs, about CHF 10,000.

Since December 2023, twelve children are being looked after in the Masaryk daycare centre. A small group of six children attends the Domecek daycare.
